Enter the Felix

First things first,

Welcome to the Warrior Lodge, a Warhammer 30k (Horus Heresy) blog that hopes to follow the hobby exploits of myself (Felix) and fellow contributors, Adam (see previous post), Nick and Cameron.

So, for introductions, my name is Felix. I have been a Wargamer for well over ten years at this point, starting at an age of 10 when I was given my first starter paint set by my grandmother.
14 years, dozens of games and, many, MANY thousands of dollars later I've found myself almost back at square one when it comes to my favourite passtime.

Despite being in the hobby for so long, I had rarely delved into the hobby side itself. I'd assembled hundreds of miniatures, though almost always by the book and almost NEVER getting around to painting anything.
9000pts of Tau and this equates to about 60% how many were painted
I had been on a hobby hiatus for a few years, simply due to a lack of having anyone to game or talk about the hobby with, but around 2 years ago, Adam reignited my hobby fire (he was working at GW at the time and constantly talking to me about his 40k projects).
I quickly ended up trying to get back up to date and familiar with 40ks when 6th Edition dropped. This was pretty big for me and I instantly gravitated towards the rule set and began playing pretty frequently.

Jump forward a little further and I had decided I really wanted to recitfy my cabinate of grey plastic, though was stuck in the vicious cycle of having too much there to paint and getting overwhelmed with poor results, while constantly buying more kits.
With sheer willpower I ended up curbing my spending (for the most part) and devoted a decent amount of effort into breaking my old painting habits and improving my skill. I'm still far from a pro, but I've come a long way since 2 years ago.

Now, long story short, I've recently "liquidated" a massive chunk of my hobby collection and have started over in some regards. Specifically, I've turned my focus and excitment to Forgeworld's Horus Heresy (30k) and I'm looking at the project with the mindset of a new hobbyist . I hope to paint every squad, weather every tank and make 30k the hobby it is supposed to be.

Time will tell how well I hold up to this oath, though that's why this blog is here I guess!

Sadly not a real piece of wargear, no matter how much Magnus wishes it was..

SO!

As mentioned in the previous post, Adam is running a 2500pt Horus Heresy event next month (not next week as he said...heretic) and after much um-ing and ah-ing I have decided to build and paint Ultramarines as my Legion of choice.

The downer is, we're roughly 3-4 weeks out from the tournament and my model collection is sorely lacking of power armoured smurfs.
So while I have no progress or nifty pictures of resin this time, HOPEFULLY I'll be able to wow you all by knocking out 2500pts of Ultramarines in the 1-2 weeks I'm hoping I will have to get them done.

Until next time, Praise the Emperor!
